Constipation

Constipation is a condition characterised by infrequent, difficult, or incomplete bowel movements, often with hard, dry stools. It matters clinically as it can indicate underlying gastrointestinal disorders or lead to complications like faecal impaction. Chronic constipation is commonly associated with inadequate fibre intake, reduced mobility, or medication side effects.
