Amyloidosis is a disorder characterised by extracellular deposition of insoluble amyloid fibrils formed from misfolded proteins, disrupting normal tissue structure and function. Clinically, it causes progressive organ dysfunction, often affecting the heart, kidneys, or nerves, making early diagnosis critical. A key example is AL amyloidosis, linked to plasma cell dyscrasias and heart failure.
