Hypercalcaemia is an elevated serum calcium concentration above the normal physiological range, typically exceeding 2.6 mmol/L. It is clinically significant as it can cause neurological, renal, and cardiac dysfunction, requiring prompt diagnosis and management. A common cause is primary hyperparathyroidism, which increases calcium levels through excessive parathyroid hormone secretion.
