Gloassary term:

fascia

Fascia is a dense connective tissue layer that envelops muscles, bones, nerves, and blood vessels, providing structural support and facilitating force transmission. It is clinically important because its integrity affects movement, pain perception, and wound healing. Dysfunction or injury to fascia can contribute to conditions such as compartment syndrome, where increased pressure within a fascial compartment compromises circulation and tissue viability.
